Lasciamo la Route 66 e la tranquilla provincia americana per trasferirci sulla costa est nella effervescente New York City.

Diamo un primo sguardo aiutati dalle parole di Kerouac "...right in the middle of a rush hour, too, seeing with my innocent road-eyes the absolute madness and fantastic hoorair of New York with its millions and millions hustling forever for a buck among themselves, the mad dream..."

 

La musica dei Dreams, formidabile gruppo di jazz-rock anni '70 che annovera ai fiati i giovani Brecker Brothers, è la perfetta colonna sonora.

Attraversiamo l'Atlantico e dopo un bel viaggio arriviamo negli States, più precisamente nella west-coast californiana... alla fine degli anni 60 Burt Bacharach e Hal David con la voce di Dionne Warwick confezionano una canzone indimenticabile. La brava cantante olandese Trijntje Oosterhuis l'ha riproposta qualche anno fa arricchita da un arrangiamento coi fiocchi... qualcuno conosce la strada per San José?
